Why We Lie - The 9th Commandment

We shall know the truth and the truth will set up free! As a community growing stronger each week, we lean on the ninth commandment and its call for a life of honesty and integrity. Today we discover 'why we lie' and how God's presence wraps us in truth and light.  

Group Life Questions:

1. Begin your time by speaking one sentence statements of truth about God. Write them down then pray through each one.  

2. What is the difference between these labels of lies: White lies, half-truths, Gossip, Exaggerations, & mis-leading statements. Is there ever a time when these are okay? Can you find instances in the Bible where these are okay?  

3. Why do we lie? What are we afraid of losing?  What has Jesus done to change us and change the environment in which we live by being the truth? 

4. Genesis 3:11, God asked Adam and Eve, "Who told you you were naked?" The father of lies had convinced them that they could be God if they ate from the tree. What lie has the devil spoken over you that you have come to believe?
