How to Study the Bible: Four Guiding Questions
The Bible is a collection of 66 books written by 40 different authors. It tells one story of our God that shows our need for Jesus. It is powerful, life changing, and feeds our soul like no other. As beginners with the Word, we will explore 5 questions from the book of Philemon: Is there a sin to be avoided? Is there a promise to be claimed? Is there an example to follow? Is three a command to obey? What does this verse teach me about Jesus? Through it all, His story will rewrite our story. This story is meant to transform us!
GROUP LIFE QUESTIONS:
1. Were you able to spend time with God each day this past week? If so, how did it go? What did you learn and will you keep going?
2. Why is time with God each day so important?
3. Have each group member choose a chapter of Scripture (or whatever they are able to handle). Have each person apply the following 5 questions to selected passage:
- Is there a sin to be aware of?
- Is there an example to follow?
- Is there a command to obey?
- Is there something to know about God and/or Jesus?
4. Bring the group back to the large setting and have them share about their time with the Scripture.
5. Close your time with prayer for one another. Also, have them share their beginnings of a plan for spending time with God each day this coming week.
