Time to shed the grave clothes that have defined our past.  The challenge is to write something on the piece of cloth given to each person as they enter and they leave behind something that needs to die.  Take off those grave clothes and live.

  2. What is one strip of linen that needs to be left behind in your own life?

Who is this man?  He was a rebel with a cause to defeat anything that would come between his followers and their relationship with God.  We look at Jesus making an entrance into the temple, flipping tables, and eliminating the things that would have been barriers to people not worshiping in a pure way.

  1. How is life going?  What is Jesus teaching you right now?

  2. Read Mark 11:15-18 - make some observations about Jesus' entry to the temple and share them with the group.

  3. Spend some time discussing some things that get in the way of our worship to God.  Could those be tables that Jesus is willing to flip over in your own life?

  4. End your time in quiet prayer and reflection of the Scripture and welcome the Holy Spirit into your heart.

Reading the word can be scary but it doesn't have to be.  As an introduction to this series, we will look at some basic foundations of reading God's word so we can gain an understanding of its power.  Then, we will end our time focusing on Proverbs 3:5-6, reading, reflecting, and remembering.

  1. What is the scariest thing about God's word for you?  Does that keep you from reading it regularly?

  2. What did God mean when he asked Ezekiel to eat the book?  Why was that important?

  3. Do you believe that Jesus is in the room with you when you are reading his word?

  4. As the leader, choose a passage from God's word for the group to read, reflect, and remember.  Take some time to sit with the passage, noticing the presence of Jesus, then hear reflections of what was learned and given to them in that time of receiving.

Salvation is only the beginning of the Christian experience.  We are not called to be saved and then do nothing.  God has created and designed each of us to accomplish specific roles for the advancement of God’s kingdom.  Our responsibility as employees of the Kingdom is to continually be formed so that we may live out the purposes for which God created us to execute.

  2. Read and respond to Colossians 3:23.
  3. Read Ephesians 2:8-10. How are we as Christians saved?  What are we called to do as Christians?
  4. When was the last time your Faith cost you Comfort?

  6. S.H.A.P.E. is an acronym for: Spiritual Discipline, Heart, Abilities, Personality, Experiences.  Spend some time reflecting on each of these categories of your humanity.  Based on that reflection, what are some possible things that God might be calling you to do as an employee of the Kingdom?

This time of year, we see PEACE everywhere, but sometimes we struggle to feel peace in our hearts.  Through Jesus, we have peace with God and the peace of God.  Peace isn't found in the absence of problems, but in the presence of God.

  1. What do you think of when you hear the word 'peace."

  2. Read John 14:27 & Philippians 4:6-7.  How is Jesus' peace different from the peace of the world?  How has his peace impacted the way you respond to hardships and trials?

  3. Talk about an era of your life that's missing peace.  Are you trying to control something that's not yours to control?  How can you surrender that to God?

  4. What is one way you can share God's peace with others this week?

  5. Pray this prayer to close:  Heavenly Father, thank you for giving us perfect peace through Jesus.  We know that your peace comes when we lean on you instead of our own understanding.  Please help to trust you in Jesus name.  Amen.
